What happens if I don’t make backups?
I understand that some people may ask this question. Make backups is a lot of work It takes time, takes up space and sometimes it is useless, since we have never had a mishap. The tiredness sometimes can more than us and we leave aside this task because we believe that nothing bad can happen to us and that never any file is going to be erased because we know how to work and we never get viruses.
Is this the right attitude as far as the IT security Can we overlook the fact of making backups for peace of mind? What are the consequences of not making backups?
The risks of not making backups
A big mistake is to think that just because our security system is adequate we don’t need to create backups in case of failure. The reality of information technology teaches us that there is no totally infallible system even the great software that is marketed worldwide and used by millions of people around the world. From the moment we are connected to the Internet, there is always a risk, however small, of a virus deleting or damaging our files.
But it’s not all in the software. Also computer hardware problems can also occur which we ignore and which can render our computer unusable, if it ends up being the victim of excessive heating and the hard disk burns out.
Even if neither of these two circumstances occur, accidents can also occur. An unauthorized person enters the laptop and inadvertently deletes files that are not, sending them to the recycle garbage can and then to limbo.
What backups are for
The backups are not so much about what is going to happen.but because of what might happen. It is the duty of every user to avoid having to reach for the backup. But at least, in case of a problem, there remains the hope that we can access our backup and put the files back as they were before they were deleted.
This saves a lot of headaches and hassle, especially in businesses, where. any loss or accident can be very costly later on both in terms of brand and economical. Therefore, if only for what could happen and to work in a professional manner, it is necessary that we make a backup of our files and implement an effective security system where we have access to backup copies to restore in case of data loss.
Have you ever suffered file loss due to any of these computer problems? Have you ever missed not having made a computer backup?
